Murals in the Islands: A New York Legacy

Summary: This photo-heavy full color coffee table book is the ultimate all-access pass to over 20 years of public and private mural artistry by Kelly Curry, a New York native who over the quarter century of her career has made work in many countries and states but will always call the Empire State her home. Dedicated documentation of these work by photographer Kara Dry will allow a never before seen look at the exquisite details of publicly viewable art but more excitingly, over a dozen murals in private residences and businesses in the 1000 Islands Region. Kelly's art has formed the visual identity of St. Lawrence River communities for decades and as she takes on the job of refurbishing some of the public works after the 10+ years they have stood, Kara will be following right along, photographing them in their new found vibrant glory, calling back to the years of growth and interest garnered in the 1000 Islands markedly since the COVID-19 pandemic. To highlight the art in it's fullest, spreads will feature little if not zero copy but an index of the work found in the back of the book will contain personal anecdotes and comments from Kelly herself about the experience of creating each piece and her artistic process in collaborating with her community and clients. 

Summary: The prelude will introduce the author, detail her Near Death Experience in 1998 and explain how what she was shown during the experience influences her daily life, enabling her to put certain habits into practice to instill positivity in her words and actions towards others as well as towards herself. The intro will also explain how to use the book, giving real life situations in which it is applicable and what are indicators to know you are creating that affirmative space for yourself. Each spread in the book contains the affirmation written in the artists hand writing, opposite the corresponding artwork over brushstrokes by the artist of the associated color along with a full description/definition of the affirmative word. The reader will have a fuller understanding of that word and understand how they are creating a vibrational difference in themselves by not only speaking the affirmation, but believing it and focusing in on it. Chapter pages will expand on the significance of each chakra and the color symbolizing it.
